A tragic road accident occurred on the Konch-Orai route in Kanpur on Friday, when a speeding private bus traveling from Konch to Orai lost control and overturned into a deep roadside ditch. The incident resulted in the immediate death of a woman and left more than 20 passengers seriously injured.
Details of the Accident
According to eyewitnesses, the bus was carrying approximately 40 to 50 passengers at the time of the accident. The vehicle was moving at a very high speed when the driver suddenly lost control midway. The bus swerved violently and plunged directly into the ditch, causing chaos and panic among the passengers. Many were trapped inside the overturned bus and could be heard crying out for help.
Rescue Operations
Villagers working in nearby fields rushed to the scene upon hearing the loud crash and the screams of the victims. They acted swiftly, breaking the glass panes and windows of the bus to pull out the injured. Local police and CO Parmeshwar Prasad arrived shortly after with additional forces. Ambulances were called to transport all the injured to the district hospital, where the condition of several victims remained critical.
Casualties and Injuries
The deceased woman has not yet been identified, and efforts are underway to determine her identity. The injured include children as well as elderly individuals. Upon arrival at the district hospital, a state of chaos prevailed as medical staff worked to manage the influx of patients. A team of doctors was immediately deployed to the emergency ward to provide treatment.
The accident has once again raised concerns about road safety and reckless driving on this route. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
