Dumka: Two individuals were taken into custody and subsequently sent to jail on Friday for their alleged involvement in the murder of a three-year-old girl, whose body was discarded into a well in the Godda district late Thursday night. The suspects, a 60-year-old man and another aged 30, were apprehended following a search by local villagers.
Incident Details
The young girl was reported missing from her maternal grandmother's residence on Thursday afternoon. Family members and community residents initiated an urgent search for the child, but she remained untraceable for several hours. During the search efforts, villagers reportedly observed a man carrying a sack around midnight. They alleged that the individual secretly disposed of the sack into a nearby well before attempting to flee the scene.
Villagers' Intervention
Suspicious villagers apprehended the man and interrogated him. During questioning, he allegedly confessed that the sack contained the body of the missing girl. Following this admission, the villagers retrieved the body from the well. Further interrogation by the community led to the revelation of another accomplice's name, who was subsequently captured and assaulted before the arrival of a police team.
Police Investigation
Both accused individuals are neighbors of the girl's maternal grandparents. The officer in charge stated, "An investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the crime." The police have registered a case and are probing all angles.
