Security forces conducting combing operations in the Porahat forest of Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district were ambushed by Naxalites on Tuesday. The forces were searching for wanted Maoist leader Saluka Kayam when the attack occurred.

Gunfight Erupts in Forest

The ambush triggered retaliatory firing that lasted for approximately 30 minutes. According to Superintendent of Police Amit Renu, no casualties have been reported so far in the gunfight. Security personnel remain stationed at the site, while the Maoists fled the area.

Search for Saluka Kayam

Saluka Kayam is an active Maoist operative in the Kudburu-Kedabir stretch of the Porahat forest. He has been tasked with reviving the outlawed organization in the mineral-rich forest region. The security forces have intensified their search operations to apprehend him.
