Russia Launches Missile Barrage on Kyiv, Injuring One and Cutting Power
Russia Strikes Kyiv with Missiles, Cuts Power and Water

Russia unleashed a wave of drones and missiles on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv early Tuesday morning. The attack targeted the Dnipro district specifically. One person sustained injuries in the assault.

Mayor Confirms Damage and Disruptions

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko confirmed the details through his official Telegram channel. He urged all residents to remain under cover for their safety. The mayor provided critical updates on the situation as it unfolded.

"One injured in the Dnipro district of Kyiv," Klychko wrote. "The team has left. There are still calls for medics." His statement highlighted the immediate human cost of the bombardment.

Power and Water Supplies Severely Hit

The strikes caused significant damage to critical infrastructure. Mayor Klychko reported widespread power outages on the east bank of the Dnipro River. Social infrastructure facilities were forced to switch to autonomous power supplies to maintain operations.

Water supply services also suffered major interruptions. Residents faced a dual crisis of no electricity and limited access to water. The attacks targeted key energy infrastructure, exacerbating the situation.

Ballistic Missiles and Drone Attacks

Online videos shared via unofficial Telegram channels showed rockets streaking across the Kyiv sky. The assault included a ballistic missile wave that directly hit the capital. Analysts reported at least two Iskander-M type missiles likely damaged infrastructure.

Witnesses recorded multiple rocket launches during the attack. Some projectiles were reportedly shot down by defense systems. However, several missiles penetrated defenses and struck their targets.

Widespread Fires and Property Damage

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, shared further damage assessments. He reported multiple fires breaking out in the Dnipro district following the strikes.

"In the Dnipro district, non-residential buildings were damaged," Tkachenko stated on Telegram. "Cars are burning in another location. In the Dnipro district, a fire broke out in a warehouse."

Images circulated online showing cars ablaze in the Rusanivka district. Other photographs captured strike-lit skies over Kyiv, illustrating the scale and intensity of the bombardment.

Zelenskyy's Warning Before the Attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned citizens just hours before the attack. He shared an urgent update late Monday local time, alerting the nation to imminent danger.

"In the coming days, we must remain extremely vigilant," Zelenskyy wrote. "Russia has prepared for a massive strike and is waiting for the moment to carry it out."

The president urged everyone to pay close attention to air raid alerts. He called for every region to be ready to respond quickly and support affected people. His warning proved tragically accurate.

Ongoing Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

This latest barrage follows similar strikes overnight on Monday. Russian attacks previously hit energy infrastructure facilities, cutting power supplies in five Ukrainian regions. The continued bombardment has left residents across multiple parts of the country without electricity.

These outages occur amid freezing winter temperatures, creating a humanitarian crisis. The repeated targeting of power grids appears to be a deliberate Russian strategy. Ukraine faces immense challenges in repairing damaged infrastructure under constant threat.
