Russia Claims Capture of Okhrimovka in Ukraine's Kharkiv Region

Russia has announced that its forces have captured the settlement of Okhrimovka in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region, marking another claimed advance in an area that has seen some of the most intense fighting of the conflict. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, units from the North Group of Forces took control of the village following what Moscow described as 'decisive actions' against Ukrainian positions.

Strategic Importance

Russian officials characterized Okhrimovka as an important fortified point within Ukraine's defensive network in the Kharkiv direction. The ministry further claimed that Russian troops carried out strikes against Ukrainian formations in several locations across the neighbouring Sumy region, including Ivolzhanske, Khoten, Mohrytsia, Ryasne and Nova Sich.

Casualties and Equipment Losses

Moscow said Ukrainian forces suffered more than 200 casualties in the North Group's area of responsibility over the past 24 hours. Russian officials also reported the destruction or capture of military equipment, including a tank, a U.S.-supplied HMMWV armoured vehicle, multiple transport vehicles and artillery systems.
