Operation Sheruwali Enters Day 7 in Rajouri Forest, Terrorists Trapped
Operation Sheruwali Day 7: Terrorists Holed Up in Rajouri Forest

JAMMU: A joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) continued their relentless hunt for two to three terrorists believed to be holed up in the dense forests of the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan belt in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district, as Operation Sheruwali entered its seventh day on Friday.

Reinforcements and Surveillance Deployed

Helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs were actively assisting the troops on the ground, officials confirmed. Additional reinforcements were rushed in to plug possible escape routes and support the ongoing anti-terror operation, which was launched on May 23 following a brief exchange of fire between ultras and security personnel.

Intensified Search Operations

On Thursday, heavy firing and shelling erupted in the Dorimal area as the search party continued to tighten the cordon around the suspected hideout. Earlier, on May 25, the third day of the operation, security forces successfully busted a terrorist hideout containing essential commodities. The spot was subsequently destroyed to prevent its future use.

Several top officers, including Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma and Inspector General of CRPF (Jammu) Amol V Homkar, visited Rajouri in the past week for an operational review and situational assessment. Their presence underscores the strategic importance of the operation and the commitment to neutralizing the terrorist threat in the region.

The operation continues with heightened vigilance, as security forces aim to ensure the safety of the area and eliminate any remaining militant presence.
