In the aftermath of the tragic Jabalpur boat accident, hearts were deeply moved when a picture of a 4-year-old child and his mother, holding each other tightly, went viral. The heartbreaking incident occurred on April 30, 2026, and has now taken an even more emotional turn after the little boy's father revealed that his son had shown an unusual fear before boarding the boat.
Father Recalls Son's Premonition
Recalling the moments before the incident in an interview with Zee Switch, the father of 4-year-old Trishan, Pradeep Kumar, stated that his son had a premonition. The grieving father said, "Mere bete ko to kuch dikh gaya tha" (My son had sensed something).
Unusual Fear of Water
As Pradeep Kumar provided more details, he revealed that his son had shown an unusual fear of water even before boarding the boat. Recalling the child's words, he said, "Papa paani mein nahi jana chahiye... paani mein doob jaate hain" (Papa, we should not go into the water, people drown in water).
The Haunting Question
The father recalled another moment from inside the cruise that now lingers in his mind. While holding his son in his arms, the child said something strange, as if he saw something before any signs of storm or chaos. He asked, "Papa hum doob rahe hain kya?" (Papa, are we drowning?). At that time, Pradeep Kumar did not think much of it and scolded the child. "Mere daantne ke baad vo itna sehem gaya… mujhe laga usko kuchh dikh gaya tha," he said emotionally.
Sia, Pradeep Kumar's eldest daughter and Trishan's sister, also remembered the little boy's words. She said that when the family was leaving for the trip, even then the little boy said, "Papa paani mein ni jaana chahiye."
Unpacked Bags and Lingering Memories
Now that the surviving family members have returned to their home in Delhi, the memories of the tragedy continue to haunt them. "Jab jab unka saaman dekhenge tab tab unki yaadein aaengi…" the grieving father and husband said while speaking to BBC Hindi, his voice trembling with pain. Pointing to the bags that still remain untouched in the house, he shared how everything is exactly as his wife had packed it for the trip. "Ye bag pack karke le gaye the… meri wife ne khud packing ki thi," he recalled emotionally.
Since returning from the airport after the tragedy, the family has not found the courage to even unzip the luggage. "Tabse bags waise ke waise rakhe hue hain… mere bete aur meri wife ka saaman khol kar dekhne ki himmat hi nahi ho rahi," he said, expressing how every belonging now feels like a painful reminder of the life they lost.
