Iran executed a man on Saturday convicted of spying for Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, state media reported, the third such execution in recent months.
The man, identified as Ali Akbar Siadat, was convicted of providing information to Mossad about Iran's military and nuclear facilities, according to the judiciary's Mizan news agency. Siadat was arrested in 2023 and sentenced to death in 2024.
Iran has executed at least three people in the past two months on charges of spying for Israel. In February, two men were hanged for espionage-related crimes. The Islamic Republic frequently accuses Israel of carrying out covert operations and assassinations on its soil, a charge Israel neither confirms nor denies.
The execution comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, with Iran's nuclear program at the center of international concern. Israel has repeatedly threatened military action to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran denies.
Human rights groups have criticized Iran's use of the death penalty for espionage cases, arguing that trials often lack transparency and due process.
