Iran Claims Destroyed US Bunker-Buster Bombs After Airstrikes

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it uncovered and dealt with a large number of unexploded weapons left behind after recent airstrikes, including powerful U.S.-made bunker-buster bombs. According to the statement, four GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators—30,000-pound bombs designed to destroy deeply buried targets—were discovered in Iran’s Zanjan province during post-conflict clearance operations. Three were reportedly destroyed on-site, while one was defused and transferred for further handling.

Massive Cleanup Operation

The IRGC also says its forces neutralized more than 9,500 bomblets scattered across the region, along with various missiles and rockets that failed to detonate after being fired from advanced fighter jets, including F-15, F-16, and F-35 aircraft. In addition, 52 rockets were destroyed and several others secured for analysis. Two cruise missiles, including a GBU-39 type, were also recovered after being intercepted by air defense systems.

Implications for US Strategy

This development highlights the failure of the Trump administration's military strategy against Iran, as the most powerful US munitions were destroyed or defused without causing significant damage. The IRGC's successful clearance operation underscores Iran's defensive capabilities and resilience against foreign aggression.
