Indian Man Charged with Fatal Stabbing in London Southall

Navjot Singh, a 20-year-old Indian national, has been charged with the murder of Gurbhej Singh, 26, also an Indian, following a fatal stabbing in the west London suburb of Southall. The Metropolitan Police announced the charges on Friday, June 21, 2026.

Charges and Arrest

Navjot Singh faces charges of murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and subsequently charged. He appeared before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday and has been remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey court in London on Monday.

Details of the Attack

The attack occurred in the early hours of June 10 on North Road, near the junction with Dormers Wells Lane, in Southall. Gurbhej Singh was stabbed and pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of medical staff. Another man, in his 30s, was also attacked and treated at a hospital; he has since been discharged.

Police Investigation

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the investigation for the Met Police, stated: “Officers have carried out extensive enquiries since Gurbhej’s death last week, which have led us to arrest a suspect on suspicion of his murder.” She added, “I am aware of the concern that this tragic incident will have caused locally and I would like to thank the community for their patience while we have carried out our enquiries at the scene.” Foxwell also thanked those who provided CCTV and other information, and said her thoughts remain with Gurbhej’s family.

Previous Arrests

Seven men, aged from their early 20s to late 30s, were initially arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Six have since been released with no further action, while the seventh remains on police bail as investigations continue. The victim's family continues to be supported by specialist officers.
