NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly condemned the attack on Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, which resulted in the death of an Indian national and injuries to several others. In an official statement, the MEA called upon all parties involved to immediately cease strikes targeting civilian populations and civilian infrastructure.
MEA Statement on the Attack
"We condemn the attack on the Kuwait International Airport today in which an Indian national has died and several of our nationals are injured. Since the onset of the conflict in West Asia, we have strongly urged that civilian population and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted. We again call upon parties to cease such attacks," the MEA said.
The ministry expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Kuwait is providing all possible assistance to those injured. "Our Embassy is extending all possible assistance to those injured. We remain in close contact with local authorities for the welfare of Indian nationals. Indian Missions and Posts across the region are on alert and continue to proactively support our community," the statement added.

According to Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, as quoted by the state-run KUNA news agency, Kuwait halted all air traffic operations after Iranian strikes hit Terminal One, causing casualties and significant damage to airport infrastructure. The airport was later partially re-opened to allow limited operations.

The strikes occurred amid reports from Iranian semi-official news agencies that Tehran had suspended communications with mediators regarding efforts to extend a ceasefire in its conflict with the United States and Israel.
