Gadchiroli Police Dismantle Maoist Arms Factory

Nagpur: In a major success against left-wing extremism, the Gadchiroli Police dismantled a sophisticated underground arms manufacturing unit hidden deep in the Beenagunda forest, situated right on the doorstep of Abujmarh, the once impenetrable Maoist headquarters. The operation, code-named 'Operation Antim Prahar', was launched late Friday based on precise inputs from surrendered guerrillas.

Operation Details

A joint team comprising six units of Gadchiroli and Pranhita police, along with a bomb detection and disposal squad, targeted the northern fringes of the Beenagunda forest. The remote location, nestled in the Abujmarh valley, was a covert workshop where Maoists manufactured and repaired weapons and explosives for attacks during 'Naxal Week' and elections.

Led by Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police M Ramesh, the operation involved meticulous planning and execution. Additional Superintendent of Police Kartik Madhira, Additional Superintendent of Police Gokul Raj G, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Vishal Nagargoje played key roles in the mission.

Seized Materials

Security forces seized a large cache of critical equipment used in weapon fabrication. The haul included a lathe machine, BGL pipes, 12-bore pipes, inverters, generators, batteries, drilling machines, pressure pumps, solar panels, and 20-foot pipes. All seized materials were destroyed on the spot to prevent any future misuse.

The dismantling of this underground factory is a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency in the region, disrupting their ability to carry out attacks during sensitive periods such as elections and Naxal Week. The operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and the importance of cooperation between various police units.
