Biharsharif: In a major breakthrough, police have dismantled an inter-state child trafficking network and rescued three minor girls from Rajasthan, while apprehending four suspects in Nalanda district.
Case Initiation and Investigation
The operation was triggered by a complaint filed on April 9 at Rahui police station concerning the disappearance of two minor girls from a local village. Acting promptly, law enforcement launched an investigation and tracked their location to Bikaner in Rajasthan, where both victims were safely recovered.
According to Sadar SDPO-2 Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, speaking on Monday, "During the operation, Rajesh Kumar and his wife Anjali Kumari were arrested from Bikaner. Their interrogation led police to Nalanda, where two local accused — Dhanvanti Devi alias Shobha of Balchand Bigha under Noor Sarai police station, and her associate Purushottam Kumar of Prabhubigha under Manpur police station — were arrested near Brahmkund in Rajgir."
Additional Rescue and Modus Operandi
During the crackdown, authorities also rescued another minor girl from Raipur district in Chhattisgarh. Investigations revealed that the girls were trafficked and sold for a sum of Rs 3 lakh. The SDPO added, "The operation involved technical surveillance and coordinated efforts of several teams. Further investigation is underway to uncover the wider network."
Police are now working to trace other potential victims and identify all members of this inter-state racket. The rescued girls have been placed in protective custody and are receiving necessary care.
