Background of the Act

The Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, has drawn objections from the Akal Takht, the highest temporal authority of Sikhism. The Akal Takht has raised concerns that certain provisions of the act may undermine the sanctity and respect of the Sikh holy scripture. The meeting between Tarsem Singh and Giani Gargajj underscores the alignment of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De with the Akal Takht's stance.

Panthic Unity

This development highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain Panthic unity and adherence to Sikh traditions. The Akali Dal Waris Punjab De, led by Amritpal Singh, has consistently emphasized the importance of following the Maryada and respecting Sikh sentiments. The organization's support for the Akal Takht's position reinforces the principle that the Akal Takht's directives are paramount in matters affecting the Sikh community.

The meeting also serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility of Sikh organizations to uphold the dignity of the Guru Granth Sahib. As discussions continue, the Akal Takht's role as the guiding authority remains central to the community's decision-making process.
