Six people were killed in a tragic road accident near Bagepalli in Karnataka on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on National Highway 44 when an autorickshaw was crushed between a car and a parked lorry.
Details of the Accident
The autorickshaw was carrying six passengers, including the driver, when the car hit it from behind, pushing it into a stationary lorry parked on the roadside. The impact was so severe that the autorickshaw was completely mangled, leaving no survivors. All six occupants died on the spot.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as residents of a nearby village. They were reportedly on their way to a local market when the accident took place. The victims include three men, two women, and a child. Their bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.
Police Investigation
Local police reached the spot soon after the incident and have registered a case. The car driver has been detained for questioning. Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding and negligence on the part of the car driver led to the collision. The parked lorry was reportedly without proper warning signals, which may have contributed to the accident.
