Uttar Pradesh Weather Update: Relief from Cold Wave with Temperature Rise
Uttar Pradesh is finally getting some relief from the intense cold wave. Minimum temperatures, which had plunged below 4°C in several western districts, are set to climb by 3-5°C starting January 15. This warming trend offers a welcome break for residents who have been battling freezing conditions.
Fog and Light Rain to Accompany Warming
However, the temperature increase comes with a catch. Weather experts predict that fog will intensify across the region, becoming both denser and more widespread. Additionally, light rain and drizzle are expected to arrive from January 18, influenced by Western Disturbances. This precipitation might cause a temporary dip in temperatures again.
Meteorologists from the Lucknow Meteorological Centre explained the recent weather patterns. "Following the passage of a Western Disturbance, winds have shifted back to a northwesterly direction," they stated. "This change led to a 2-4°C drop in both day and night temperatures across most of Uttar Pradesh over the past two days."
Recent Cold Wave Conditions
The experts highlighted how severe the cold had become. "Minimum temperatures dropped significantly below 4°C in some areas of Western UP, triggering a cold wave in places like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Bareilly," they noted. With no major changes anticipated in the next 48 hours, a cold wave and frost are likely tonight in parts of Aligarh, Meerut, Saharanpur, Moradabad, and the Rohilkhand division.
Regional Variations in Weather
Meanwhile, conditions vary across the state. In the northern Terai regions and far southern parts of Western UP, dense fog is expected during early morning hours. The good news is that this fog should clear quickly, allowing sunshine to break through and provide daytime relief from the cold.
Temperature Outlook for the Next Week
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a detailed forecast for the coming days:
- Maximum temperatures are likely to remain steady for the next three days before gradually rising by 2-3°C thereafter.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to show little change over the next two days, then gradually increase by 3-5°C in the following days.
This weather update brings mixed news for Uttar Pradesh residents. While warmer temperatures will ease the bitter cold, increased fog could affect visibility, and light rain might bring temporary cooling. People should stay informed about local conditions as these weather patterns develop.
