Sharjah Charity International Unveils Massive Dh150 Million Ramadan Campaign
Sharjah is preparing for Ramadan 2026 with a groundbreaking humanitarian initiative. Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has officially launched its Jood campaign, setting an ambitious target of Dh150 million. This seasonal drive aims to ensure that no one feels forgotten during the Holy Month, both within the UAE and across international borders.
Campaign Inauguration and Vision
Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Chairman of SCI, inaugurated the campaign in a significant ceremony. The word "Jood" translates directly to "Generosity," and the 2026 effort fully embodies this meaning. SCI's board of directors emphasized that this year focuses on reaching vulnerable communities with both speed and dignity. By planning months in advance, the charity has established logistics to deliver aid to remote global areas precisely when the first fast begins.
Detailed Allocation of Funds
According to Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, SCI Executive Director, the Dh150 million will support various Ramadan initiatives. Key allocations include:
- Dh71 million for operational costs during Ramadan
- 1.3 million iftar meals distributed within the UAE and abroad
- Ramadan food baskets for 25,000 registered beneficiaries
- Zakat al-Fitr support for 35,000 people
- Eid clothing for 3,000 beneficiaries
- Dh4 million for medical treatment support
- Dh3 million for debt relief
- Dh1 million for housing-related assistance
- Mobile iftar outreach programs in several countries through international aid efforts
With these comprehensive distributions, SCI expects the campaign to reach more than two million beneficiaries during the Ramadan season.
Digital Innovation for Easier Giving
A major highlight of the campaign launch was the introduction of a new smart digital application. Available on both the Apple Store and Google Play, this app represents SCI's digital transformation initiative. Developed in-house by the charity's digital team, the application features advanced capabilities including an AI-powered smart assistant named "Ahmed." This assistant simplifies the donation experience and helps users quickly select their preferred giving categories.
SCI board member Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi explained that the app's design prioritizes user friendliness and time efficiency. Donors can complete their charitable contributions in just a few simple steps. Al Suwaidi publicly encouraged people to download the application and participate in supporting SCI's various initiatives.
Broader Context of UAE Ramadan Initiatives
The launch of Jood 2026 occurs as Ramadan initiatives take center stage across the United Arab Emirates. This reflects the emirates' strong commitment to community support and global humanitarian outreach. Beyond Sharjah Charity's efforts, other major campaigns demonstrate how widespread and coordinated charity work has become during the holy month. For instance, the UAE Food Bank's 'United in Giving' initiative delivered meals to millions of people last year.
Sharjah Charity International's Jood 2026 campaign represents a significant step forward in humanitarian planning. By combining substantial financial targets with innovative digital tools and careful logistical preparation, SCI aims to make Ramadan 2026 a season of genuine generosity and meaningful impact for communities worldwide.
