Russia Condemns External Interference in Iran, Warns of Disastrous Consequences

Russia issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday against what it called "subversive external interference" in Iran's internal political affairs. The Russian Foreign Ministry released a statement warning about potential "disastrous consequences" for regional stability.

Russian Foreign Ministry's Stern Warning

The Russian statement specifically addressed those considering using externally inspired unrest as justification for aggression against Iran. "Those who plan to use externally inspired unrest as a pretext for repeating the aggression against Iran committed in June 2025 must be aware of the disastrous consequences of such actions," the ministry declared.

Russia emphasized that such interference would have severe implications for the situation in the Middle East and global international security. The warning came amid escalating tensions in the region.

Trump's Social Media Posts Fuel Tensions

The Russian statement followed provocative posts by former US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform. Trump directly addressed Iranian protesters, urging them to continue their demonstrations and take over institutions.

"Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING - TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!" Trump wrote in his post. He added, "Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price."

Trump announced he had cancelled all meetings with Iranian officials until what he called "the senseless killing of protesters" stops. He concluded his message with the phrase "HELP IS ON ITS WAY" and the acronym "MIGA," suggesting "Make Iran Great Again."

Widespread Protests Across Iran

Protests have spread to all 31 provinces of Iran, triggered primarily by worsening economic conditions. Reports indicate significant casualties and arrests, though official figures remain unavailable from Iranian authorities.

According to Reuters reports, approximately 2,000 people have been killed during the unrest, with more than 10,700 arrests made. The Associated Press noted difficulties in independently verifying these numbers due to widespread internet shutdowns and reporting restrictions imposed by Iranian authorities.

Economic Crisis Fuels Public Anger

Iran's economy continues to face severe challenges, contributing significantly to public discontent. The Iranian rial has collapsed to more than 1.4 million to the US dollar amid soaring inflation rates.

Rising prices for basic goods have made daily life increasingly difficult for ordinary Iranians. Additional government measures, including cuts to fuel subsidies and the removal of preferential exchange rates for most imports, have further fueled public anger.

Regional Pressure Compounds Domestic Challenges

The current unrest occurs as Iran faces mounting external pressure on multiple fronts. The country recently experienced a 12-day war with Israel in June, followed by US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Tehran's regional allies have also weakened, creating additional strategic challenges for the Iranian government. These external pressures combine with domestic economic difficulties to create a complex crisis situation.

US President Issues Warning to Iran

Former President Trump issued a separate warning to Iranian authorities regarding their treatment of protesters. He stated that Washington would respond if Iran continues to "violently kill peaceful protesters."

The combination of domestic protests, economic crisis, and international pressure creates a volatile situation in the region. Russia's warning about disastrous consequences reflects growing concern about potential escalation.
