Rajasthan Braces for Significant Weather Changes with Thunderstorm and Hailstorm Alert

Cloudy skies and northerly winds provided a brief respite from the escalating heat across Rajasthan on Tuesday, setting the stage for more dramatic weather developments in the coming days. The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a fresh and comprehensive rain alert, forecasting thunderstorms, gusty winds, and potential hail activity in multiple regions of the state during the midweek period.

Western Disturbance Triggers Weather Warning

According to detailed reports from the Met office, a fresh western disturbance, combined with an active upper-air cyclonic circulation, is expected to instigate significant meteorological transformations from Wednesday through Friday. This system is likely to unleash gusty winds reaching formidable speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall across numerous areas.

Officials have specifically warned that isolated hailstorms are probable in several divisions, including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota. The alert emphasizes the need for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions as these conditions could impact daily activities and local infrastructure.

Temperature Variations Across the State

The cloudy conditions observed on Tuesday already exerted a noticeable influence on temperatures throughout Rajasthan, with many cities recording daytime readings slightly below the seasonal average. In the capital, Jaipur, residents awoke to an overcast sky and a comparatively pleasant morning atmosphere. The city documented a minimum temperature of 19.1°C, while the maximum temperature stabilized at 32.3°C in the afternoon. Despite the persistent cloud cover, no rainfall was registered in Jaipur during the day.

Across the state, Chittorgarh emerged as the hottest location with a maximum temperature of 38.0°C, followed closely by Barmer at 36.9°C and Kota at 36.8°C. Other major urban centers reported more moderate readings: Jaisalmer recorded 33.5°C, Ajmer 33.0°C, while Alwar and Bikaner both hovered around 31.3°C. Sriganganagar registered the lowest maximum temperature at 28.5°C, highlighting the diverse thermal landscape of the region.

Humidity Levels and Immediate Forecast

Meteorological officials noted that relative humidity levels exhibited considerable variation across Rajasthan. In Jaipur, humidity was measured at 65% in the morning, declining sharply to approximately 26% by evening. This fluctuation underscores the dynamic atmospheric conditions prevailing in the area.

The Met office's latest forecast indicates that strong winds, lightning activity, and rainfall are likely within the next 24 hours at many places in the Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur divisions. Residents are advised to monitor updates and prepare for potential disruptions as the western disturbance advances, bringing much-needed relief from the heat but also introducing elements of weather-related risk.
