Pune to Welcome New Year with Clear Skies and Chilly 10°C Nights, Says IMD
Pune New Year Weather: Clear Skies, Chilly 10°C Forecast

Residents and visitors in Pune can look forward to ringing in the New Year under ideal weather conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting largely clear skies and seasonally cool temperatures for the festivities.

Clear Skies and Pleasant Days Ahead

The local forecast from the IMD indicates that both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day will experience mainly clear skies. A light haze is expected during the morning hours, but there is no prediction of any rainfall activity to dampen the celebrations.

Daytime temperatures are forecast to remain comfortable, hovering near 29-30°C. This pleasant weather is expected to provide perfect conditions for outdoor parties, gatherings, and public celebrations across the city.

Chilly Nights to Mark the Transition

The standout feature of the forecast is the dip in nighttime temperatures. The IMD has predicted a minimum temperature of around 10°C for both December 31 and January 1. This chilly weather will necessitate warm clothing for late-night events and early morning revellers.

Recent readings from Tuesday showcase this cooling trend. The Shivajinagar area recorded a maximum of 29.8°C and a minimum of 9.9°C, which is slightly below the normal range for this season.

Temperature Variations Across the City

The IMD data reveals interesting variations in nighttime temperatures across Pune's different suburbs:

  • Pashan recorded an even cooler minimum of 9.3°C.
  • Lohegaon reported a comparatively warmer night at 13.4°C.
  • Other localities, including Koregaon Park and Magarpatta, saw minimum temperatures ranging between 13°C and 16°C.

This variation suggests that while the city core will be chilly, some areas might experience slightly milder conditions. Overall, the forecast sets the stage for a classic Pune winter celebration—warm, sunny days followed by crisp, cool nights perfect for welcoming 2025.
