Kudremukh National Park Bans Trekking to Prevent Forest Fires
Kudremukh National Park Trekking Ban for Summer Safety

The forest department in Chikkamagaluru has taken swift action ahead of the summer season. They have imposed an immediate ban on all trekking activities in the Kudremukh National Park region. This decisive move aims to ensure visitor safety and prevent potential forest fire incidents.

Complete Trekking Prohibition Across Protected Areas

According to an official order issued by the Kudremukh National Park authorities, trekking will not be permitted inside the national park itself. The ban also extends to the Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary and the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. This prohibition will remain in effect until further notice.

Strict Enforcement Measures Implemented

Officials have received clear directives to deploy adequate guards across all affected areas. These personnel will prevent access to every trekking route within these protected zones. The forest department is leaving no room for unauthorized entry during this critical period.

Popular Trekking Destinations Now Off-Limits

Several well-known trekking destinations have been declared completely out of bounds. The banned locations include:

  • Gangadikal Peak
  • Kudremukh Peak
  • Kurinjala Peak
  • Valikunja Trek (covering both SK Border and Karvash routes)
  • Narasimha Parvatha in Kigga and Mulandur
  • Kodachadri (including Valuru and Hidlumane routes)
  • Bandaje Volambra
  • The Netravati trek

The forest department emphasizes that this preventive measure is crucial as summer approaches. Dry conditions significantly increase the risk of forest fires. By restricting human movement in these sensitive areas, authorities hope to minimize fire hazards and protect both visitors and the natural ecosystem.
