Kanpur Gets Relief from Heat with Light Drizzle, Temperatures Drop Significantly
Kanpur Sees Light Drizzle, Temperature Drops 8.4°C Below Normal

Kanpur Experiences Welcome Weather Change with Light Drizzle and Temperature Drop

The city of Kanpur received some much-needed relief from the prevailing heat conditions on Friday, as light drizzle spread across the division throughout the day. Residents witnessed intermittent drizzle continuing until the afternoon hours, with an overcast sky dominating the entire day.

Significant Temperature Deviation from Normal Levels

The weather change brought substantial temperature variations, with the maximum temperature recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius. This reading marked a significant 8.4 degrees below the normal expected temperature for this time of year. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature stood at 18.8 degrees Celsius, which was 4.2 degrees above the normal minimum.

Relative humidity levels rose dramatically throughout the day, reaching as high as 80 percent in some areas. This increase in moisture content contributed to the overall cooling effect experienced across the city.

IMD Forecast and Weather Patterns

According to the India Meteorological Department, rainfall was forecast across much of the country, including the Kanpur division specifically. Although the sky remained clear on Thursday night, meteorological observations indicated that cloud cover began increasing significantly after midnight, turning dense by morning hours.

Some surrounding areas also experienced hailstorms alongside the drizzle, adding to the varied weather conditions affecting the region. The IMD has indicated that the region may continue to witness mild sunshine interspersed with dense cloud cover in the coming days.

Expert Analysis and Future Predictions

Weather expert Dr. S. Sunil Pandey from Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology provided detailed analysis of the current conditions. He noted that light drizzle may persist until noon hours, with northwesterly winds potentially picking up speed during the afternoon period.

"Wind speeds are expected to range between 1 and 6 kilometers per hour during the afternoon," Dr. Pandey explained. "As the clouds gradually clear and sunlight intensity increases, temperatures are likely to rise in the coming days, with a possible increase of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius expected."

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain below normal levels for the immediate future, with the possibility of light showers accompanied by strong winds continuing to affect the region.

Agricultural Advisory and Precautions

Dr. Pandey also offered specific guidance for agricultural activities in light of the changing weather conditions. He advised farmers to temporarily suspend threshing activities for a couple of days until weather conditions stabilize.

  • Farmers should wait for clearer skies before resuming agricultural operations
  • Temporary suspension of threshing will prevent crop damage from moisture
  • Resumption of normal activities recommended once cloud cover decreases significantly

The unexpected weather change has brought welcome relief to Kanpur residents who had been experiencing unseasonably warm conditions. Meteorological authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the region transitions through this weather pattern.
