Indore to Renovate 30,000+ Water Bodies Under Jal Ganga Samvardhan

Indore: Over 30,000 urban and rural sites will be renovated under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan campaign in Indore to enhance water conservation before the monsoon. The campaign has evolved into a significant public movement aimed at restoring traditional water bodies through robust community and corporate collaboration.

Community and Corporate Participation

Collector Shivam Verma stated that various organizations have committed resources for the 2026-27 period. Several banks and non-governmental organizations have taken responsibility for cleaning, renovation, and restoration of wells and stepwells. They have also come forward to assist in afforestation and rainwater harvesting, Verma added.

Targets for 2026-27

The campaign's 2026-27 goals include 5,000 rural and 25,000 urban projects, such as renovation of old wells, ponds, and stop dams. Collector Verma has mandated that all tasks be completed before the monsoon, specifically the construction of rainwater harvesting systems in all government buildings and homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
