Indore Experiences Sharp Temperature Rise, Reaching 35 Degrees Celsius
The city of Indore has witnessed a significant return of summer-like heat, with daytime temperatures climbing back to 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. This marks a notable increase from the recent cooler spell where temperatures had dropped to 30.6 degrees Celsius just last Saturday.
Steady Upward Trend in Maximum Temperatures
The maximum temperature recorded on Tuesday was precisely 35.0 degrees Celsius, showing a clear upward movement from Sunday's reading of 33.4 degrees Celsius. By late afternoon at 5:30 pm, the temperature remained elevated at 33 degrees Celsius, indicating sustained heat throughout the day.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature has remained relatively stable at 17.4 degrees Celsius, staying close to normal seasonal expectations for this period.
Meteorological Factors Driving the Heat
According to meteorological officials, the recent temperature increase follows the dissipation of cloud cover that had persisted over the preceding days. This clearing has allowed more direct sunlight to reach the surface, contributing to the warming trend.
Wind patterns have been predominantly west to north-westerly, with speeds reaching up to 19 kilometers per hour. These atmospheric conditions have helped establish a more typical pre-summer weather phase across the region.
Regional Weather Systems and Forecast
The broader synoptic situation reveals multiple weather systems in play, including:
- Upper air cyclonic circulations over central Pakistan and parts of Madhya Pradesh
- A trough extending toward Maharashtra
- A strong subtropical westerly jet stream continuing over north India
- Two western disturbances expected to affect northwest India from March 26 and again around March 28 night
Met scientist Divya Surendran explained: "While the direct impact of these systems on Madhya Pradesh may remain limited, day temperature is expected to rise further by three to five degrees in the coming days, intensifying heat across the region."
Immediate Weather Outlook for Indore
The Meteorological Department forecasts a gradual temperature increase of two to three degrees over the next two days. Following this period, no major changes are anticipated in the immediate weather pattern.
Residents have already begun experiencing the return of harsh afternoon heat, with conditions expected to intensify as temperatures climb further. The earlier temperature fluctuations that characterized recent days have subsided, giving way to more consistent warm conditions.
The combination of clear skies, specific wind patterns, and regional weather systems suggests that Indore is transitioning firmly into its summer phase, with residents advised to prepare for continued heat in the days ahead.
