A significant shift in weather patterns is unfolding across India today, bringing a welcome respite from recent conditions. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts a change characterised by cooler temperatures, increased cloudiness, and a slight possibility of rainfall in the country's northern extremities.
Today's Weather Forecast: Clouds and a Chance of Rain
The NCM predicts generally fair to partly cloudy skies for most parts of India. However, low clouds are expected to form over some eastern and northern regions. While widespread rainfall is not on the cards, there is a chance of light rainfall over the far north of the country. The most notable change will be a drop in temperatures, which is set to be most pronounced in the western areas.
Rising Humidity and Potential for Fog
As night falls and we move into tomorrow morning, humidity levels are forecast to increase. This rise in moisture will be felt over some inland areas and along the western coast. The increased humidity may lead to the formation of fog or light mist, particularly during the early morning hours. Commuters and travellers should be aware of potential visibility issues in some locations during this time.
Wind conditions will remain generally light to moderate but may pick up at times. The winds are expected to blow from the northwest to southwest direction at speeds ranging between 15 and 30 km/h, occasionally gusting up to 40 km/h.
Sea Conditions and Tide Timings
The NCM has also provided detailed forecasts for sea conditions around the peninsula. In the Arabian Gulf, sea conditions are expected to range from rough to moderate. The tide timings are as follows: the first high tide will occur at 13:44, followed by a second high tide at 04:17. Low tides are forecast at 07:34 and again at 21:07.
Over in the Sea of Oman, wave activity will remain light. The first high tide is expected at 10:20, with the second at 23:52. Low tides will take place at 17:04 and 05:54.
This shift in weather marks a transitional phase, bringing cooler air and increased moisture. Residents in the north should be prepared for a slight chance of rain, while those in western and coastal regions can expect a noticeable cooldown and should exercise caution in the early morning due to possible fog.
