Gusty Winds and Thunderstorm Disrupt Power in Lucknow

Lucknow experienced significant disruptions to its electricity supply on Thursday evening as gusty winds accompanied by mild thunderstorms swept through the city. The adverse weather conditions led to multiple precautionary emergency shutdowns and breakdowns across various zones, leaving residents in several areas without power.

Gomti Nagar Zone

In the Gomti Nagar zone, precautionary measures were taken to ensure safety. At 9:38 PM, all feeders of the Gwari Culvert substation under Vibhuti Khand were shut down due to strong winds and rain. Shortly after, at 9:42 PM, feeders including Baghamau, Gokul Vihar, and Vistar under the Sector 1 substation in Gomti Nagar Extension were subjected to a 10-minute emergency shutdown.

Jankipuram Zone

The Jankipuram zone reported outages from multiple substations, impacting residential areas. At 11:05 PM, a breakdown in the 11 kV Paper Mill feeder of Bhikampur substation disrupted supply to Balmiki Nagar and Baba ka Purwa for approximately one hour. The CSDS feeder of Ahibaranpur substation developed a fault at 10:47 PM, while the Rasoolpur feeder of Integral University substation and the Basera feeder of University substation also suffered breakdowns, affecting areas such as Nishatganj and New Hyderabad for nearly an hour. Additional disruptions were reported across Jankipuram, with the Priyadarshini feeder also developing a fault, and repair work was underway. Furthermore, all 11 kV feeders under Subhash Park, Mahanagar, and ITI Aliganj substations were shut down due to strong winds.

Amausi Zone

The Amausi zone faced widespread disruption as well. While supply remained normal at the MLD Tehsil substation except for the Maan Khera and Chandpur feeders, several substations including Mall, Rahimabad, Kakori, Gopramau, MLD Old, and Rahman Khera had all their 11 kV feeders shut down due to strong winds and rain. Power supply was also affected in Nadarganj and other parts of Amausi.

Alambagh and Railway Power Areas

In addition to these, a major fault in the 33 kV line caused outages in Alambagh and Railway Power areas. With one line already under repair, the second line also developed a fault, leading to prolonged darkness in areas such as Alambagh, Azad Nagar, and Ambedkar Park Road.
