Gurgaon Experiences Warmest Night of the Season Amid Rising Temperatures

Residents of Gurgaon are feeling the heat as nights in the city have turned notably warmer, with the minimum temperature climbing to 21°C on Wednesday. This marks the highest night temperature recorded in Gurgaon so far this season, indicating a significant shift towards more intense summer conditions. The maximum temperature on the same day rose to 39.1°C, adding to the discomfort.

Temperature Trends Across Haryana

On Tuesday, Gurgaon had recorded a minimum of 17.4°C and a maximum of 39°C, showing a clear upward trend. The heat has already intensified in various parts of Haryana, with Rohtak and Faridabad recording the highest maximum temperature of 40.5°C on Wednesday. Other cities reported varied night temperatures: Narnaul at 22.5°C and Bhiwani at 23°C experienced warmer nights, while Karnal recorded the lowest minimum at 15.4°C.

Statewide, the average minimum temperature has increased by approximately 1°C, and day temperatures are also on the rise. Haryana has seen an average increase of 0.8°C in maximum temperatures, which are currently 2.9°C above normal levels. This consistent warming pattern underscores the onset of hotter weather across the region.

IMD Forecast and Meteorological Conditions

The latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department's Chandigarh centre indicates that dry weather is likely to prevail across Haryana over the next few days, with no immediate rainfall activity expected. Temperatures are set to climb further, with IMD projecting a gradual rise of 3–4°C in maximum temperatures over the next four days and a total increase of 4–5°C over the next five days. After this period, no significant change is anticipated.

Meteorological conditions reveal a western disturbance currently positioned over the Mediterranean region. A fresh, feeble system is expected to influence the western Himalayan region from the night of April 16, but its impact over Haryana is likely to remain limited. This will restrict weather activity to largely dry conditions, exacerbating the heat.

Official Insights and Regional Implications

Officials from IMD have highlighted that the rising night temperatures combined with increasing daytime heat signal the onset of more intense summer conditions in the region. "Gurgaon and the rest of Haryana are expected to see clear to partly cloudy skies with a steady rise in temperatures, with no major weather alerts issued for the coming days," said an IMD official.

This warming trend aligns with broader climate patterns and underscores the need for preparedness as summer intensifies. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions against the heat.
