Gurgaon Weather: Rain and Thunderstorms Predicted Until May 15

Gurgaon woke up to overcast skies and relatively pleasant conditions on Monday, with temperatures beginning to rise around 1 pm as the day turned sunny. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 30 kmph and 60 kmph across parts of Haryana from May 11 to May 15.

Weather Observations on Monday

Light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds was observed over parts of Haryana on Monday. The maximum temperature was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season normal. At the Gurgaon AWS station, the maximum temperature rose marginally to 36 degrees Celsius from 35.4 degrees Celsius the previous day. At Gurgaon KVK, it was recorded at 36.1 degrees Celsius, up from 35.3 degrees Celsius, while the NorthCap University monitoring station recorded 37.3 degrees Celsius, slightly down from 37.6 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's normal. At Gurgaon AWS, the minimum temperature rose to 24.1 degrees Celsius from 21.5 degrees Celsius a day earlier.

Weather Systems and Forecast

According to IMD, a western disturbance persists as an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining areas. Additionally, a trough extends from southwest Madhya Pradesh to Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, while another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining regions. These systems are expected to trigger unstable weather conditions over Haryana in the coming days.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue at a few places in the state on May 12, while isolated rainfall activity is expected between May 13 and 15. The department has warned of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 50-60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph, at isolated places on Tuesday. From May 13 to 15, wind speeds are expected to range between 40 kmph and 50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph.
