Bhopal Braces for Cold Wave as Temperatures Set to Drop by 3 Degrees
Cold Wave Alert: Bhopal Temperatures to Dip Further

Residents of Bhopal are set to experience a renewed bout of intense cold, as meteorological forecasts predict a significant drop in nighttime temperatures over the coming days. This follows a brief period of slight relief where the chill had marginally eased.

Met Office Predicts Sharp Temperature Dip

The city's weather department has issued a forecast indicating the arrival of another cold wave. The minimum temperature is expected to plummet by at least three degrees Celsius in the near future. Although no formal cold wave warning was issued for Thursday, the consistent downward trend in mercury levels over the past five days strongly suggests that colder nights are imminent.

This impending chill is likely to drive people towards traditional sources of warmth, with bonfires becoming a common sight across the city as residents seek respite from the biting cold.

Current Weather Snapshot and Statewide Conditions

On Wednesday, Bhopal recorded a daytime temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below the normal average for this time of year. The night brought a more pronounced chill, with the mercury dropping to 9.2 degrees Celsius, a notable three degrees below the usual mark.

The hill station of Pachmarhi registered the state's lowest temperature on the same day, a chilly 6.7 degrees Celsius. The Met department has forecast clear skies for Bhopal on Thursday, with the possibility of morning haze. The expected day and night temperatures are 26 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively, with an average wind speed of around 10 kilometers per hour.

Across the rest of Madhya Pradesh, dry weather conditions are predicted to prevail in all districts.

Southern Weather System's Influence

Meanwhile, the meteorological department is monitoring a significant weather system in the southern part of the country. A well-marked low-pressure area persisted over the north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts on Wednesday. The associated cyclonic circulation is likely to extend up to 7.6 kilometers above mean sea level.

This system is expected to move slowly in a southwesterly direction across north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Forecasters predict it will weaken further into a low-pressure area over the next 24 hours. While this system is geographically distant, it forms part of the broader atmospheric conditions influencing weather patterns across the subcontinent.
