AP Forest Dept to Produce 2.5 Crore Seed Balls

The Andhra Pradesh forest department is preparing for a large-scale production and distribution of 2.5 crore seed balls as part of a statewide green campaign led by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests & Environment K. Pawan Kalyan. The initiative aims to enhance green cover, strengthen biodiversity, improve ecological balance, and promote long-term environmental sustainability across the state.

Mass Participation Expected

The campaign will involve public representatives, women from self-help groups, government employees, students, youth organisations, environmental volunteers, and citizens from all sections of society. Officials stated that large-scale seed ball preparation activities will be conducted across the state during June, with the initiative expected to transform into a mass public movement.

Implementation Strategies

The forest department has devised plans to leverage the monsoon season by dispersing seed balls extensively during July and August. Three methods will be adopted for implementation: direct scattering, manual planting, and deployment of advanced drone technology for aerial distribution. This multi-pronged approach aims to ensure maximum germination and coverage.
