The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced welcome news for Ahmedabad residents experiencing unseasonably warm weather. According to their latest forecast, the city is set to experience a gradual drop in minimum temperatures starting from Monday.
Temperature Drop Expected
The meteorological department indicated that while no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected within the next 24 hours, a gradual fall of 2-3 degrees Celsius is very likely over the region thereafter. This cooling trend comes as a relief after several days of above-normal temperatures in the Ahmedabad region.
Current Weather Conditions
On Saturday, Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 20.4 degrees Celsius, which was 5.3 degrees higher than normal for this time of year. The maximum temperature stood at 30.8 degrees, slightly below normal by 0.5 degrees. Weather experts attribute the recent warm spell to changing wind patterns that have now shifted to northeasterly to easterly directions, bringing the anticipated drop in mercury levels.
Regional Temperature Variations
The cooling trend isn't limited to Ahmedabad alone. Other cities in Gujarat have already begun experiencing lower temperatures. Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 15°C, followed by Bhuj at 16.6°C, Kandla at 18.5°C, and both Vadodara and Rajkot at 18.6°C.
For Ahmedabad specifically, the IMD forecast suggests the minimum temperature is likely to settle around 19 degrees Celsius in the coming days, providing much-needed respite from the recent warmth. This seasonal adjustment aligns with typical weather patterns for the region and indicates the gradual transition toward cooler winter conditions.
