Residents of Ahmedabad experienced a notably warmer Monday night as the city's minimum temperature saw a significant rise, according to the latest data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The mercury levels have climbed well above the seasonal average, marking a distinct shift in the winter weather pattern.
Ahmedabad Records Notable Temperature Jump
On Monday, the minimum temperature in Ahmedabad settled at 15.6 degrees Celsius. This reading represents a clear increase from the 14.8 degrees Celsius recorded on Sunday. More importantly, the IMD highlighted that Monday's low was a substantial 3.4 degrees above the normal average for this time of year.
The daytime warmth also followed this upward trend. The maximum temperature for the day reached 29.6 degrees Celsius, which was 1.7 degrees above the normal maximum. This simultaneous rise in both day and night temperatures points to a broader warming trend affecting the region.
IMD Forecast for Gujarat
The weather office has provided a forecast for the coming days. For Tuesday, the IMD predicts that Ahmedabad's minimum temperature will hover around 16 degrees Celsius. Looking at the broader state of Gujarat, the forecast indicates no major changes in weather conditions for the next three days.
However, a change is expected thereafter. The IMD anticipates a fall in minimum temperatures across Gujarat by approximately 2 to 3 degrees following the initial stable period. This suggests a return to cooler nights after the current warm spell.
Statewide Temperature Variations
While Ahmedabad warmed up, other parts of Gujarat recorded much cooler temperatures on Monday. Naliya was the coldest recorded spot in the state, with a minimum temperature of 11.4 degrees Celsius.
Other regions with low temperatures included:
- Deesa: 12.8 degrees Celsius
- Kandla: 12.9 degrees Celsius
This variation showcases the diverse microclimates within Gujarat, with coastal and northern areas experiencing different conditions compared to the city of Ahmedabad.
