Ahmedabad Hits Season's Lowest Temperature of 11.5°C

Ahmedabad shivered through its coldest night of the season on Thursday. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 11.5 degrees Celsius. This reading marked the lowest point for the current winter period.

Temperature Trends in January

This was the third time in January that Ahmedabad's minimum temperature dipped below 12°C. On January 14th, the city had registered a minimum of 12.6°C. Thursday's temperature was notably 0.8 degrees lower than the normal expected minimum for this time of year.

In contrast, the maximum temperature told a different story. It reached 28.7°C, which was actually 1 degree higher than the normal maximum. This created a significant daily temperature variation.

Forecast and Regional Conditions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a forecast for the coming days. On Friday, the minimum temperature in Ahmedabad is likely to be around 13°C.

The state forecast indicates a probable gradual rise in minimum temperatures over the next 48 hours. Temperatures are expected to increase by 2 to 3 degrees. After this period, no major changes are anticipated.

Cold Conditions Across Gujarat

The chill was not confined to Ahmedabad alone. On Thursday, nine different cities and towns in Gujarat recorded minimum temperatures of 10°C or less.

Several locations experienced particularly cold conditions:

  • Amreli recorded a low of 6°C
  • Keshod saw 7.4°C
  • Kandla registered 7.9°C
  • Rajkot experienced 8.4°C

These readings confirm that a cold wave affected multiple parts of the state. Residents across Gujarat felt the winter's bite as temperatures dropped significantly below normal levels in many areas.
