Ahmedabad experienced a maximum temperature of 36°C on Sunday, which was 1.2 degrees below the normal level for this time of year. This marked a slight increase from Saturday's reading of 34.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded was 20.6 degrees, registering 0.5 degrees below the normal benchmark.
IMD Forecast Predicts Gradual Temperature Rise Across Gujarat
According to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain within a similar range in the immediate term. However, the IMD has indicated a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures over the next 48 hours, followed by a period of stabilization. Minimum temperatures are also projected to increase by approximately two degrees during this timeframe.
Weather Systems Influencing Gujarat's Climate
Two key weather systems persisted over the state, contributing to the current atmospheric conditions. An upper air cyclonic circulation was observed over west Rajasthan in the morning, while a Western Disturbance manifested as a trough. These systems are playing a significant role in shaping the temperature patterns across Gujarat.
Regional Temperature Variations: Rajkot and Keshod Lead at 36.5°C
Among various cities in Gujarat, Rajkot and Keshod recorded the highest maximum temperatures at 36.5°C. Surendranagar followed closely with 36.3°C, while Ahmedabad's reading stood at 36°C. These variations highlight the localized effects of the prevailing weather systems.
The IMD's ongoing monitoring suggests that residents should prepare for warmer conditions in the coming days, with temperatures expected to climb before leveling off. This forecast is crucial for planning daily activities and understanding the broader climatic trends affecting the region.
