Three Killed in Lightning Strike in Jharkhand

A tragic incident occurred in Nandudih village under Tehro panchayat in Koderma district on Friday night, where three members of a family, including two women, lost their lives due to a lightning strike at their under-construction house.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Mundrika Devi, 45, Saraswati Devi, 37, and Saraswati’s son, Ankit Kumar, 15, according to Satganwa circle officer (CO) Keshav Prasad Chaudhary.

Details of the Incident

According to the CO, the trio were sitting in a room on the first floor of the house when lightning struck an iron rod fixed near a window. The strike triggered an electric current that passed through the room, killing them instantly. Other family members, who were on the ground floor at the time, remained unharmed.

Postmortem and Compensation

The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The CO stated that compensation under government provisions will be provided to the family once the required formalities are completed.
