Teen, Farm Worker Drown in Separate Maharashtra Incidents

Kolhapur: A 15-year-old boy and a 50-year-old man lost their lives in separate drowning incidents in Kolhapur and Solapur districts on Tuesday, according to the police.

Drowning in Kolhapur

In Kolhapur, Vishwajeet More (15), a resident of Mhasve village in Gargoti tehsil, drowned in a stream of the Vedganga river while swimming with friends around 4.30 pm. The police stated that the teenager ventured into the middle of the stream, but failed to gauge the depth and drowned. Locals pulled him out and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. He was about to enter Class X.

Drowning in Solapur

In Solapur, Dhondiba Gaikwad (50), a farm worker, drowned in the Sina river in the morning. Around 9.30 am, Gaikwad had gone to the river to wash his clothes when he slipped and fell into the water. His body surfaced a few hours later and was recovered by locals.

Police have registered accidental death cases in both incidents. Authorities have urged people to exercise caution near water bodies, especially during the monsoon season when water levels can rise unexpectedly.
