SGPC to Set Up Printing Press, Sikh Mission on Donated Land in California
SGPC Plans Printing Press, Sikh Mission in California

Amritsar: In response to the high demand for saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from Sikhs residing in the United States and Canada, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will establish a printing press along with a religious preaching centre, Sikh Mission, and Gurmat (Guru's wisdom) school on a 14-acre plot donated by the late Didar Singh Bains and his family to the SGPC.

Delegation Inspects Land in Yuba City

A release issued by the SGPC stated that a delegation, currently on a visit to the US under the leadership of its president Harjinder Singh Dhami, inspected the land earmarked in Yuba City, California. In the release, Dhami said that a large number of requests for birs (scriptures) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib are regularly received from Sikhs in the US and Canada.

"The establishment of a printing press at the site would enable the SGPC to meet this demand more effectively," said Dhami. The delegation also held discussions with architects and local Sikh leaders regarding the development of the proposed projects.

Objectives of the Proposed Centre

Dhami said that keeping in view the sentiments of the Sikh community in the US and Canada, the SGPC had earlier decided to establish a religious preaching centre, press, Sikh Mission, and Gurmat school in the US. He further stated that the proposed centre, aimed at promoting Sikh teachings, would not only strengthen cooperation between the Sikh diaspora and Sikh institutions but would also help connect Sikh children living abroad with Gurmat principles and Sikh traditions, adding that the project would be completed at the earliest with the cooperation of local Sikh leaders and the Sikh community.
