The district administration of Ramgarh is working on a war footing to redevelop and beautify the Maa Chinnamastika Temple in Rajrappa, aiming to provide better facilities for devotees. This was stated by Ramgarh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rituraj, who, along with senior officials, inspected the ongoing works on Saturday.
Anti-Encroachment Drive and Plans
Earlier, 254 shops were demolished at the site during a two-day anti-encroachment drive that began on April 16, clearing the way for the project. DC Rituraj said, "The plan includes temple beautification, construction of entrance and exit gates, a parking area, and a market complex. We are identifying suitable locations for these facilities. Additionally, a plan is underway to rehabilitate those who were evicted."
Forest Land for Parking
Ramgarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Nitish Kumar stated, "My department will make forest land available for the construction of a parking site near the temple complex." This step is expected to ease congestion and improve access for visitors.
High Court Monitoring
The Jharkhand High Court is also monitoring the Rajrappa renovation project and has questioned the administration about the slow pace of work, emphasizing the need for timely completion.
Religious Tourist Destination
Home to Goddess Chinnamastika, the Rajrappa temple is located at the confluence of the Damodar and Bhairvi rivers in Ramgarh district. It is among several religious tourist destinations being developed by the state tourism department. Other sites include Baba Baidhyanathdham Temple in Deoghar, Parasnath Hills in Giridih, Bhadrakali Temple in Chatra, Anjan Dham in Gumla, and Patratu Lake Resort in Ramgarh.
The redevelopment aims to enhance the pilgrimage experience and boost local tourism, with authorities ensuring that all necessary infrastructure is put in place while addressing the concerns of those affected by the evictions.
