JAIPUR: Parts of Rajasthan witnessed light rain and drizzle amid ongoing heatwave conditions, providing some respite as strong winds helped bring down temperatures, the weather department reported on Thursday.
Rainfall and Thunderstorm Activity
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) center in Jaipur, isolated areas experienced warm nights, while some locations saw thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and light rainfall in the 24 hours ending Thursday morning. Kota recorded the highest rainfall at 20.6 mm during this period.
Temperature Trends
The weather office noted that maximum temperatures across most parts of the state have slightly declined and are now ranging between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius, which is close to normal levels. A further drop of 1-2 degrees Celsius in daytime temperatures is expected over the next couple of days, offering partial relief from the heatwave conditions.
Weather Forecast for Coming Days
Due to the activation of a western disturbance and the influence of easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are likely over the next two to three days, along with light rainfall at isolated places. Similar weather conditions, including heatwaves in some areas and afternoon thunderstorms or drizzle, are expected to persist through the first week of May, the department added.
