Earlier, G7 leaders reaffirmed their solidarity with Ukraine in its war against Russia. They agreed to increase additional air defence systems and licenses to boost military production, while strengthening sanctions against the Russian oil and gas sectors.

Formal Declaration

In a formal declaration, the Heads of State and Government of the G7 expressed unwavering support for Ukraine, commending its resilience and progress amid the prolonged conflict. The statement read, "We stand united in our unwavering support for Ukraine as it defends its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."

Defence and Energy Support

To enhance Ukraine's defence capabilities, G7 leaders agreed to further boost air defence systems, interceptors, and long-range ammunition, while granting licenses to increase Ukraine's military production. They also pledged additional support for Ukraine's energy needs ahead of the upcoming winter.

Sanctions on Russia

Expressing commitment to increase pressure on Russia, the G7 leaders announced the strengthening of sanctions on its oil and gas sectors.

Peace Deal Announcement

Welcoming the announcement of a peace deal between the US and Iran, the leaders affirmed their resolve to take significant steps to end the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
