Bhopal: An international medical-evacuation flight from Pokhara, Nepal, touched down at Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal on Tuesday evening, transporting a critically ill resident who required urgent medical attention, according to airport officials. The patient, accompanied by family members, arrived in India aboard a special flight operated by Nepal’s Shree Airlines.
Priority Handling and Coordination
Ramjee Awasthi, Director of Raja Bhoj Airport, stated that the aircraft received priority handling to ensure the patient obtained immediate medical care. “Immigration and customs officers, along with airline and ground-handling teams, were mobilized instantly and provided expedited clearance for the patient and the accompanying medical team,” he said.
Airport Capabilities Activated
Raja Bhoj Airport, which operates 24x7 and is designated as an integrated check post and customs airport, activated its international handling facilities to support the emergency operation. Streamlined procedures allowed all required formalities to be completed without delay, enabling the patient to be transferred to a waiting medical team for onward evacuation and treatment.
“All relevant agencies worked in close coordination to expedite the process and prioritize the patient’s welfare,” Awasthi added. Following the completion of formalities, the Shree Airlines aircraft departed Raja Bhoj Airport for Nepal at approximately 6 pm, officials confirmed.
This incident highlights the airport’s capability to handle international medical emergencies efficiently, leveraging its round-the-clock operations and dedicated customs and immigration facilities.
