Chikkaballapura: A risky attempt to remove a massive beehive without protective gear cost a 53-year-old man his life in Kambathanahalli under Manchenahalli police limits. The victim, identified as Sanaulla, ventured out on Wednesday night to clear a large hive from a tamarind tree, reportedly to facilitate the sale of its yield.
Incident Details
Sanaulla, locally known for extracting honey, climbed the tree without any safety equipment. According to police, the beehive, measuring nearly six feet, triggered a severe bee attack. The incident came to light when his wife alerted friends after failing to reach him on the phone. During the search, his slippers were found near the tree, and his body was later spotted atop it.
Police Statement
"With no protection, Sanaulla suffered multiple stings on his body, particularly on the face, leading to his death atop the tree," a police official said.
Recovery Operation
Fire and emergency services personnel retrieved the body the next morning after a prolonged operation. Meanwhile, the district reported at least three cases of bee attacks over the past two days, though none resulted in serious injuries or casualties, police added.
