Lucknow University has received a total of 3,421 applications from foreign students for the academic session 2026-2027, which is around 1,500 more compared with last year. This year, students not only from neighbouring countries but also from European countries like Hungary and Poland have demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm for admission to Lucknow University.
Compared to the 2,083 applications received in the previous session (2025-26), a total of 3,421 applications were received so far this year — even with two months still remaining before the commencement of the session, said LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava.
This year, the university has received a significant number of applications from European nations like Hungary and Poland, as well as from African countries such as Nigeria, Tanzania and Botswana. Among Asian countries, students from Nepal, Vietnam and Bangladesh have shown particular interest, with the highest number of applications received from Bangladesh, he said.
The increase in applications reflects the growing global reputation of Lucknow University. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs that attract international students. The administration is working to accommodate the rising interest and ensure a smooth admission process for foreign applicants.
With two months still left before the session begins, the university expects the number of applications to rise further. This surge in foreign applications is a positive sign for the university's international outreach and diversity initiatives.
