In a move to accommodate festive travellers and revellers, the Kolkata Metro Railway has announced a special service schedule for Christmas Day. The enhanced services will primarily benefit commuters on the heavily used Blue and Green lines, ensuring smooth connectivity during the holiday celebrations.
Detailed Schedule for Blue Line Services
The Blue Line, connecting Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash, will see an early start and a late wrap-up. Services will commence at 6:50 am on Thursday. To manage the expected festive rush, trains will run at frequent seven-minute intervals during the peak evening hours from 2:40 pm to 8:30 pm.
For those planning a late night out, the last trains will depart from terminal stations at specific times. The final service from Shahid Khudiram station will leave at 10:30 pm. Conversely, the last train originating from Dakshineswar will start its journey at 10:23 pm.
Green Line Operations on December 25th
Similarly, the Green Line, which runs between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake's Central Park, will also operate on a special timetable. The first train will roll out at 6:39 am. The frequency will be increased significantly during the evening, with trains arriving every six minutes between 4:25 pm and 8:30 pm.
Services on this line will continue until 10:20 pm. Importantly, the extra late-evening train from Howrah Maidan to Central Park, scheduled for 10:20 pm, will operate as per its usual routine, providing an additional option for commuters.
Normal Services on Other Lines
While the Blue and Green lines get a festive boost, the Metro Railway has confirmed that normal services will be in effect on the Yellow, Purple, and Orange lines on Christmas Day. Passengers travelling on these routes should check the standard timetable for their journey planning.
