A tragic road accident occurred on Saturday morning in the Panki police station area of Kanpur, where a speeding auto-rickshaw collided with a stationary dumper on National Highway-19, resulting in the immediate death of two individuals and critical injuries to three others.

Accident Details

The incident took place on NH-19 in the lane heading towards Naubasta, near the Patanjali warehouse under the jurisdiction of the Panki police station. The auto driver, traveling at high speed, failed to notice the dumper parked on the roadside and rammed into it from behind. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the auto was completely mangled, trapping passengers inside.

Rescue Operation

Upon receiving information from passersby, the PRV team of Dial 112 arrived at the scene promptly. Police personnel, with the assistance of locals, rescued the trapped passengers from the damaged auto. The three injured individuals were reported to be in extremely critical condition and were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.

Identification of Deceased

Inspector Dinesh Bisht of Panki police station stated, "Initially, no identity documents were found on either of the two deceased. Later, one among them was identified as Ramesh Saini (55), a resident of Rania." Police have taken possession of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to trace the family members of the other deceased.

Investigation Underway

The parked dumper has been taken into custody, and an investigation has been initiated. Further action will be taken following the completion of the inquiry. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
