Kadabagere-Tavarekere Line Added to Namma Metro Phase 3A in Bengaluru
Kadabagere-Tavarekere Line Added to Bengaluru Metro Phase 3A

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has officially added the Kadabagere-Tavarekere line to the Phase 3A expansion of Namma Metro. This 12.5-kilometer stretch will connect the western suburbs of Bengaluru, providing a crucial link for commuters in the region.

Route Details and Stations

The proposed line will run from Kadabagere to Tavarekere, passing through several key areas. It is expected to have around 10 stations, though the exact locations are yet to be finalized. The route will traverse the Mysore Road corridor, which is one of the busiest in the city, and will help reduce traffic congestion significantly.

Integration with Existing Network

The new line will integrate with the existing Namma Metro network at the Mysore Road station on the Purple Line. This will allow seamless travel from the western suburbs to other parts of the city, including the central business district and the eastern corridor. The BMRCL has stated that the line will be fully elevated to minimize land acquisition issues and construction time.

Project Timeline and Cost

The estimated cost for the Kadabagere-Tavarekere line is around Rs 6,000 crore. The BMRCL plans to complete the project within five years, with construction expected to begin in early 2025. The state government has already allocated funds for the project in the recent budget, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared.

Benefits for Commuters

Once operational, this line will benefit over 5 lakh commuters daily, reducing travel time between Kadabagere and Tavarekere from over an hour to just 20 minutes. It will also provide a boost to the real estate sector in the western suburbs, with property prices expected to rise along the corridor.

The addition of this line is part of the broader Phase 3 expansion, which includes several other corridors aimed at making Bengaluru a more connected and sustainable city. The BMRCL has also announced plans to introduce driverless trains on some of these new lines, further enhancing efficiency.
