External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said the India-Africa partnership serves as a message of stability in a turbulent world. Speaking at the 19th CII-EXIM Bank Conclave on India Africa Project Partnership, he emphasized that the relationship is based on shared interests and mutual development.
Shared Vision for Global Stability
Jaishankar noted that India and Africa have historically stood together on global platforms, advocating for a more equitable world order. He stressed that the partnership is not just about economic ties but also about amplifying the voice of the Global South. "In a world marked by conflicts and uncertainties, the India-Africa partnership stands out as a beacon of hope and stability," he said.
Economic Cooperation and Development
The minister highlighted key areas of cooperation, including capacity building, infrastructure development, and digital public infrastructure. He cited India's support for African countries during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the supply of vaccines and medical equipment. "Our partnership is rooted in the principles of South-South cooperation, with a focus on sustainable development and inclusive growth," Jaishankar added.
Strategic Importance
Jaishankar also underscored the strategic importance of the partnership in the Indian Ocean region. He called for enhanced maritime security cooperation and joint efforts to address common challenges such as piracy, terrorism, and climate change. "India and Africa must work together to ensure peace and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region," he stated.
Future Outlook
The conclave, which aims to strengthen business ties between India and Africa, saw participation from several African leaders and business delegates. Jaishankar expressed confidence that the partnership will continue to grow, benefiting both regions. "The future of global stability lies in stronger cooperation between India and Africa," he concluded.
