Hyderabad: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday announced that the detailed project report (DPR) for the 761-km Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor has been completed. Officials have been directed to expedite the subsequent phases of execution.
Key Features of the Corridor
During a review meeting on proposed high-speed rail corridors, the minister outlined that the Hyderabad-Mumbai-Pune corridor will comprise 12 stations, including both elevated and underground sections. A 4.6-km tunnel near Vikarabad is also part of the plan. Once operational, the project is expected to slash travel time between Hyderabad and Mumbai to under three hours, with trains reaching speeds of up to 330 kmph.
Other Corridors Under Review
The Future City-Chennai corridor, which passes through Amaravati, is progressing with active cooperation from the Andhra Pradesh government. Additionally, alignment plans for the Future City-Bengaluru corridor, covering key regions such as Mannanur and Somasila, were reviewed in detail. Komatireddy termed these as "economic growth corridors" and stated that key policy decisions will be taken in consultation with the chief minister to accelerate their rollout.
Government Collaboration and Infrastructure Updates
The minister called for seamless collaboration between central and state agencies and assured full support from the Telangana government for the timely completion of these transformative projects. The review also covered progress on major infrastructure works, including roads, bridges, railway overbridges (ROBs), and the high court building. Komatireddy directed officials to maintain timelines and ensure accountability in execution. He further stated that the TIMS hospital at Sanathnagar will be inaugurated on June 2, coinciding with State Formation Day.
