Gandhinagar: Chief secretary Manoj Das chaired a high-level meeting with senior officers from various state departments to comprehensively review Gujarat's preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season.

According to an official statement, representatives from multiple line departments presented their meticulously drafted disaster management and contingency plans to address potential weather emergencies. The state aims to ensure rapid response capabilities during heavy rains.

A total of 14 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and 22 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been strategically deployed across vulnerable districts to spearhead rescue and relief operations if required. These teams are positioned to respond quickly to any monsoon-related incidents.

Quoting the chief secretary, the official statement emphasized that the state machinery is fully geared up with a strict 'zero-casualty' goal during heavy monsoon spells. This objective underscores the government's commitment to protecting lives and property.

Civic bodies, district collectors, and emergency services have been instructed to maintain seamless inter-departmental coordination. They are required to constantly monitor low-lying areas and establish round-the-clock control rooms to effectively handle waterlogging, structural collapses, and potential flood situations. The state government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure public safety during the monsoon season.
