In a tragic incident in Gujarat's Junagadh district, a pilgrim bus overturned, resulting in two fatalities and injuries to 15 others. The accident took place on Saturday morning when the bus, carrying devotees from a local temple, lost control and overturned near the village of Bhalgam.
Details of the Accident
The bus was en route to the famous Somnath temple when the driver reportedly lost control while negotiating a sharp turn. The vehicle veered off the road and overturned, causing panic among the passengers. Local residents rushed to the scene and helped rescue the injured, who were later taken to a nearby hospital.
Casualties and Injuries
Two people, identified as 45-year-old Manojbhai and 38-year-old Rameshbhai, were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Fifteen others sustained injuries, with three in critical condition. The injured are being treated at the Junagadh Civil Hospital, and doctors have stated that most are out of danger.
Police Investigation
Police officials have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have been speeding and lost control. The driver, who survived with minor injuries, is being questioned. Authorities have also ordered a thorough check of the bus's mechanical condition.
Government Response
Gujarat Chief Minister expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin. The state government has also assured full support for the treatment of the injured. Local administration has been directed to ensure proper medical care.
